Brief Introduction

The main role of the DC motor stator is to generate a magnetic field and serve as the mechanical support of the motor. It consists of the main magnetic pole, the commutation magnetic pole, the base and end cap, and the brush device.

The main magnetic pole is used to generate the main magnetic field. The main magnetic pole of most DC motors does not use a permanent magnet. Instead, the excitation winding is passed into the DC current to establish the magnetic field.The main magnetic pole is composed of an iron core and a winding. The iron core is made of low-carbon steel plate with a thickness of 0.5~1.5mm. After stacking, it is riveted tightly with rivets. The enlarged part close to the air gap is called the pole shoe. The pole shoe supports the excitation winding so that the air gap magnetic flux has a good waveform distribution. The excitation winding is wound with insulated copper wire, impregnated with insulating paint, and then set on the magnetic pole core.The main magnetic poles N and S are arranged alternately, evenly distributed and fixed to the inner ring of the base with screws.

The commutator is used to improve the commutation of a DC motor. It is also known as an additional pole. It consists of an iron core and a commutator winding set on the iron core. The iron core is commonly made of a whole piece of steel or thick steel plate. The commutator winding with few turns is connected in series with the armature winding. The number of poles of the commutator is generally the same as or halved from the number of poles of the main magnetic pole, and the air gap between the commutator and the armature can be adjusted.In a DC motor with very small power, a commutator may not be installed.
