Brief Introduction
Braking of DC IP23 motor Braking methods are divided into two categories: mechanical braking and electrical braking.There are three types of electrical braking.
(1) Reverse connection braking For other excitation or parallel excitation current machines, the armature winding is reversed, and the current limiting resistor must be connected in series when the reverse connection is made. For a series-excited IP23 motor, the series-excited windings are connected in reverse.When the motor speed is close to zero, the power supply should be cut off in time to prevent the motor from reversing.The advantage of this braking method is that the braking force is strong and the braking is rapid; the disadvantage is that the impact force is large, not accurate enough, stable, and consumes more energy.
(2) Energy consumption braking is also known as resistance braking.Keep the excitation current unchanged, remove the armature winding from the power supply, and immediately connect it to the brake resistor to form a closed loop.The armature is in the state of power generation operation by inertia, converting the rotational kinetic energy into electrical energy and consuming it in the armature circuit, while obtaining the braking torque.The advantage is that the equipment is simple and the cost is low.The braking is stable; the disadvantage is that the energy is not used, the braking force is weak at low speeds, and it is not easy to stop.
(3) Feedback braking is also known as power generation braking and regenerative braking.Due to the action of external forces, the speed of the motor exceeds the ideal no-load speed, so that the back EMF is higher than the power supply voltage, the armature current is reversed, and it becomes a power generation operating state, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy and feeding it back to the power grid to obtain braking torque to limit the motor speed from increasing indefinitely.
For series excitation IP23 motor, the feedback braking should be changed to other excitation.The economy of feedback braking is very good, but the scope of application is narrow, such as when the electric locomotive goes downhill, when the crane drops heavy objects, etc.
